Rail passengers get new park and ride stop

A new stop has today been introduced for the park and ride services to Cheltenham Spa railway station.

Rail passengers will be able to park their car at the Arle Court park, board the park and ride bus and get off at the new stop on Lansdown Road with a five minute walk along Glencairn Park Road and Queen's Road to the station.

On their return journey passengers will be able to get on the bus at the existing bus stop outside the former police headquarters.

The county council is also making additional parking spaces available at the park and ride site in the next few weeks to increase the capacity which is now around 550 cars.

Cllr Nigel Moor, cabinet member for fire, planning and infrastructure, said; "Adding this stop to the route means that park and ride users now have affordable long stay parking with easy access to the railway station.

"Arle Court park and ride has always offered convenient parking and good value fares to the town centre. Now rail passengers can plan their journey without worrying about finding a parking space by the station."
