Prince of Wales visits Gloucester business - wearing one of their products

There was a royal visitor to a Gloucester business yesterday as the Prince of Wales visited shirt maker Emma Willis - and His Royal Highness came decked in one of the company's bespoke shirts.

His Royal Highness met every member of staff at the company's Bearland House workroom, on a tour given by Emma Willis herself.

Prince Charles met cutters, seamstresses and pattern-makers, including members of staff who have trained under the company's Conde Nast Sewing Scholarship.

The graduates introduced included 20-year-old Casey Taylor who recently relocated from the North of England.

She spoke of her challenges growing in an area of poverty and lack of jobs and how it drives many in the area to suicide, including her own father.

Casey was introduced to Emma by her uncle, former serviceman Simon Taylor who she met at the Military Rehabilitation Hospital she has visited for 10 years, gifting clothing to patients.

Syrian refugees Nareen Hussain and Ibrahim Khalil had long conversations with His Royal Highness about their lives and work in Syria.

Emma explained how their exceptional skills and work ethic had benefited the company and Prince Charles expressed great sympathy and congratulated them on their skills.

Finally, Emma introduced the charity Style for Soldiers' Ambassador Andy Reid MBE and soldier artists Dougie Adams and Karl Tearney who the charity sponsors.

Both former soldiers havelaunched new careers while continuing the psychological healing process post trauma through creativity.

His Royal Highness was deeply impressed by their work and they were moved by his understanding.

The Prince of Wales wore one of his Emma Willis shirts for the visit and was waved off by a number of gleeful passers by as he departed up Longsmith Street.

Such was the dedication of the Punchline team to get Monday's Punchline Daily out at the normal time, we missed the pre-arranged time of departure by a minute.

As we rushed out of our Old Fire Station base, next door to Bearland House, we spotted the Royal car departing to waving crowds.
