Pret sees healthy recovery in sales

Pret A Manger is seeing a recovery in sales as people return to work and high street shopping.

The company reports that sales have risen above pre-Covid levels.

Sales in the regions are up an average of 19%, with Yorkshire the strongest, seeing 61% rise since January 2020.

In London's West End, the growth is smaller at 13%, and the City of London - while growing - has still not returned to pre-Covid levels as more people work from home and spend less time at the office.

Pret a Manger sales at airports are still more than a fifth below pre-Covid levels.

Pano Christou, Pret's chief executive officer, said: "On average around the country, we're back at the level of business we were at before the pandemic hit.

"But we know we need to keep pushing in London's business districts and constantly think about new ways to grow our business in those crucial markets."
