Poundland pregnancy test sales surge

Discount retailer Poundland has seen a big rise in sales of its £1 pregnancy tests since lockdown began.

Poundland, which has stores in Gloucester, Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Cirencester and Stroud, has been able to keep most stores open to provide essential items, as reported by ITV.

It said that sales of its pregnancy tests are up by 25 per cent, with the biggest increases in Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands and Slough in Berkshire.

Punchline said: "Like many people speculating around the dinner table, we've been wondering whether lockdown will lead to an increase in pregnancies or an increase in divorces.

"These figures seem to show there could be a flurry of 'corona babies' born around Christmas and New Year."
