Police search for missing woman

A search is on for a 21-year-old woman from Stroud who has been missing for more than week.

Police are appealing for the public's help to find Sophie Townsend, last seen just over a week ago on Summer Street in Stroud.

A statement from Gloucestershire Constabulary said: "It's unusual for her to have not been in contact with someone for this length of time and due to this police are concerned for her welfare and want to make sure she is safe and well.

"Sophie is considered to be vulnerable and we would therefore urge anyone who has seen her or spoken to her since last Tuesday (8 January) to contact police."

Ms Townsend is described as 5ft 4ins tall, of slim build, with short blonde hair which she tends to dye and usually ties back. She usually wears sports clothing or jeans and t-shirts.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 143 of January 13

Information can be given anonymously by contacting the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org
