Police arrest young man after sexual assaults
16th October 2017
Detectives arrested a local young man in connection with the sexual assaults and other related incidents last week in Abbeymead and Abbeydale, Gloucester.
The young man was questioned until late last night and released on conditional police bail whilst further evidence is gathered for review by the Crown Prosecution Service.
Gloucestershire police say they are not looking for any other suspects.
Detective Inspector Richard Pegler said: "I'm really grateful to the local community and those who replied to our Facebook post to help us identify the suspect.
"It's positive that the women subjected to this have had the confidence to report what has happened to them and the quality of the information they have provided has been excellent. Officers are in touch with all of those affected to update them and offer ongoing support.
"I don't underestimate the impact of these types of incident, they are quite simply horrible and unacceptable.
"Whilst I don't want to see any young person castigated or vilified, we must keep people safe and we will be working with our partners including the Youth Offending Service to address the issues raised."
