Nightclub could be converted into apartments

A Gloucester nightclub could be closed down and turned into flats.
Plans have been submitted to Gloucester City Council to convert the Registry and Elevation nightclub in Bruton Way into 21 one-bedroom and two two-bedroom apartments.
Chibroco Ltd, a local firm of property investors and developers, are behind the application.
A planning statement on behalf of Chibroco, which has been sent to the council, says: "The premises has been trading for a number of years as a nightclub but the current owners wish to cease this trade and sell the premises.
"The premises have been marketed over an extensive period of time without success.
"The applicants have agreed terms for the purchase of the property subject to planning consent for development.
"The applicant's intimate knowledge of the local property market has led them to conclude that the conversion of the existing building into residential apartments would be the most appropriate use of the property in terms of financial feasibility."
The statement adds that the development would contribute towards the shortfall in housing allocations in Gloucester by the creation of 23 new dwellings in a sustainable city centre location.
It says the apartments would be attractive to first-time buyers, particularly single people with limited finances.
The planning application is likely to come before Gloucester City Council in November.
