New shopping centre proposed for expanding village
1st September 2017
A new shopping centre is on the cards in Bishop's Cleeve after Badham Pharmacy confirmed it has now taken ownership of retail development land in the growing village.
The family-run pharmacy, which has 18 community pharmacies in and around Gloucestershire, has bought the land at Cleevelands.
Peter Badham, managing director of Badham Pharmacy, said: "A new shopping centre will help support the local infrastructure and give new residents access to a variety of new services locally.
"The retail development includes plans for a new food store and community services to encourage residents to shop locally.
"The 'shop local' ethos is something the company is keen to support as it invests in the future of Bishop's Cleeve village."
Bishop's Cleeve has seen substantial growth in recent years with a number of new housing developments and the village now has a population of more than 18,000 residents.
Whilst planning permission has yet to be granted, Mr Badham invited any interested parties to contact him in relation to the rental of the proposed retail units.
He added: "We are extremely grateful for the expert advice and support we have received from RBS/NatWest, KBW Chartered Surveyors, Hazlewoods Accountants and Hughes Paddison Solicitors."
