New safer trading scheme to help businesses

A trading standard scheme to support local businesses and protect customers has been launched in Gloucestershire.

Buy With Confidence (BWC), the Trading Standards approval scheme, has tried to create a safe platform for local businesses since 1999 where anyone can find the company they need (from plumbers and decorators to solicitors and marketing consultants) knowing that their search will lead to companies with a five star customer service.

Run by Trading Standards, BWC provides consumers with a list of businesses who have given their commitment to trading fairly.

While many business approval schemes are only open to one type of trade or companies involved in home improvement, BWC rewards customer service and legal compliance in nearly all parts of the business.

Buy With Confidence is now available to businesses in Gloucestershire.

It has the support of the Trading Standards service in the County and there are a lot of benefits in the scheme that make it worthwhile to local businesses like being part of the on and offline directory to tailored Trading Standards advice, mediation in case of a dispute, the right to use the Trading Standards Approved logo or access to special offers and tools to help a business grow.

Applicants are researched during an audit process and, if approved, members are regularly checked for their on-going commitment to customer service and compliance with consumer law.

Only businesses that meet all the requirements are added to the BWC directory.

Consumers, on the other hand, can go online to www.buywithconfidence.gov.uk and they will find a list of local businesses who have committed to trading in a legal and honest way.
