New images and update on Cotswolds Designer Outlet

Nine months into construction at Cotswolds Designer Outlet and 75% of retail space has been secured by brands.

New images have been released this week showing how work is progressing on Phase One, which is due to open in Spring 2025.

It will offer 136,000 sqft of space for 56 fashion, sport, lifestyle and food and drink companies.

Contractor Bouygues UK was appointed by developer Robert Hitchins Ltd to carry out the build and has now completed 90% of the steel frame structures.

The next stages of the programme will include completing the building envelopes, followed by externals and landscaping, before units are handed over to the new tenants for their internal fit outs.

This week bosses revealed the scheme is already 75% exchanged or in legals to fashion, sport, lifestyle and F&B brands.

Phase Two will see around another 40 units created totalling 50,000sqft.

Simon Tothill, property and development director Robert Hitchins, said: "There's been remarkable progress on site being delivered by the team at Bouygues UK.

"There's been a tremendous effort behind the scenes from the team at Robert Hitchins and our leasing and operating partner Multi-Realm, to curate a line-up of fashion, lifestyle, homewares, sports and F&B brands that will make Cotswolds Designer Outlet a must-visit destination and day out in this key location at Tewkesbury."

The construction project is expected to create more than 300 jobs, while the outlet centre is likely to create up to 500 new retail job opportunities for the area.

Multi-Realm will manage the site which is expected to offer discounts of 30-70% and attract a footfall of 3.6m per annum and an annual sales turnover of £88.6m.

The company has previously developed and managed retail hubs such as Southgate Centre in Bath, Victoria Square Belfast and Glasgow's St. Enoch Centre and has a portfolio of more than 160 assets in the UK and Europe worth €5billion (£4.27billion).

Christine Grace, leasing director at Multi-Realm, said: "We've had a very positive response from retailers and F&B operators who want to be part of the opening line-up at one of the only new outlet destinations opening in the UK next year, and a chance to showcase their brands in this 'gateway to the Cotswolds'.

"It is testament to the quality of the Cotswolds Designer Outlet design, location and the premium guest experience we're creating, that we are already 75% exchanged or in legals, this far ahead of opening."

John Boughton, Bouygues UK's managing director for the South West and Wales, said: "Our site team has been incredibly busy powering through key stages of this programme, from the steel frames to the scaffolding, from ground works to roofing. On average, we have around 100 people working on site each day."

The shopping centre is being developed by Cheltenham firm Robert Hitchins Ltd as the final piece of its long-term vision for a 300-acre site next to J9 of the M5 in Ashchurch, Tewkesbury.
