New Cotswold pie is no pie in the sky for chippy

The quest to find a new pie is over, as Cirencester's Malt and Anchor pie competition has come to an end and announced a winner.

The award winning fish and chip restaurant and take away teamed up with Jesse's Butchers for British Pie Week (5-12 March) and offered its followers and customers the opportunity to design a new pie.

Dan Afford, Malt and Anchor director, said: "The winning recipe is a slow braised lamb shank hot pot pie. It was sent in to us by Lottie Kister and involves a slow cooking the lamb for 16 hours with red wine, garlic and rosemary, carrots, potatoes, cream and a puff pastry lid.

"The recipe has been sent to Jesse's who will make up the pie for us and it will then go onto our menu. I am looking forward to giving it a try."
