A new hotel could be built near Gloucester Services on the M5.
The scheme is being considered by the Gloucestershire Gateway Trust in partnership with the Westmorland Family which runs the awarding-winning services near Gloucester.
If it goes ahead the 100-bedroom hotel would be built near the southbound services, BBC Radio Gloucestershire has reported.
Villagers living near the site are being sent leaflets outlining the proposal and a consultation meeting is being held.
Gloucester Services employs 460 people and attracts up to 5 million visitors a year.
It prides itself on working with 130 local producers based within 30 miles of the services.
Gloucester Services is the UK's first and only motorway services to donate a percentage of its revenue to its charity arm - the Gloucestershire Gateway Trust—providing regular income to its most local communities.
Through this partnership, the charity stands to gain around £10 million pounds over 20 years to spend on local community initiatives.
