Major Gloucestershire roundabout set for a £3.8 million makeover

One of Gloucestershire's busiest roundabouts is to undergo £3.8 million of improvements.
Last year £9 million was spent on upgrading Gloucester's Elmbridge Court roundabout.
Now Gloucestershire County Council is turning its attention to the Cross Keys roundabout on the A38/ B4008 at Hardwicke.
The roundabout is on the main route to Junction 12 of the M5 and gets very busy especially during the rush hour. The council says the improvements will help ease congestion and queues.
The improvements include:
*Adding an additional lane; to the B4008 approach to the roundabout, to the A38 (south) approach to the roundabout, to the A38 (north) egress from the roundabout and to the roundabout circulatory itself.
* The inclusion of circulatory roundabout lane markings to improve lane discipline.
* Upgrading the street lighting provision.
* Improved footway and informal pedestrian crossing provisions.
The county council has been awarded £2.7 million from the Government towards the scheme.
Public consultation events are taking place at Hardwicke Village Hall today (Thursday) from 3pm - 7pm and Stonehouse Town Hall on Tuesday October 2 from 3pm to 7pm.
An announcement is expected soon on when work will start.
