Local businesses beware of this latest scam

Businesses have been warned today about a Council Tax scam.

A company called Sure Claims is calling local businesses and residents to advise them that their property may not be in the correct Council Tax payment band.

As part of the scam, the company representative tries to arrange a time to visit residents with a view to carrying out a detailed Council Tax assessment.

Cotswold District Council is reminding residents and businesses that they should contact the council directly on 01285 623000 if they believe that their property is not in the correct Council Tax band.

It added that there is no need for a third party to represent their interests.

Any offers of assistance, especially if you are asked to disclose your banking details, should be ignored and you may alert the police if the caller is persistent.
