Lettings boss voted vice president of national body

The managing director of a Gloucestershire-based lettings agency has been voted vice president of the UK's leading organisation for letting agents.

Angharad Trueman, MD of CGT Lettings, has been appointed vice president for the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) Propertymark, which means she is set to progress to president of the organisation in June 2023. The organisation has 10,000 members across the UK.

Angharad said: "I'm delighted to be able to represent Gloucestershire with this national role of vice president for ARLA Propertymark. The lettings industry is always undergoing change and despite a significant amount of upheaval in recent years, we are soon to enter a period of more change as we react and adapt to incoming rental reforms, the regulation of property agents and further change to minimum EPC ratings.

"All this after navigating one of the busiest markets we are ever likely to experience! This all means it is a pivotal time for the organisation of ARLA to ensure it helps guide members through these changes and I am really pleased I will be able to bring my experience of managing change to this role.

"I am also really pleased that I will be able to provide information on imminent legislative changes swiftly to the landlords of CGT as looking after our landlords and tenants is my main priority.

"Finally, it is great to know that our landlords will be heard, that their concerns will be raised with the people who have the influence to change things for the better as I will also be able to present the views and experiences of local landlords and tenants to key policy makers within government as they shape legislation and policy for lettings."

Angharad has been a member of the organisation since 2013, the regional executive for Gloucestershire, Bristol, Bath and N/NE Somerset since 2018 and on the ARLA advisory board since 2020.

"This role will mean travelling to regional meetings across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland meeting with members and liaising with them about their local markets and queries within the industry," she added.

CGT Lettings Ltd is the region's largest independent letting agent with branches in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Tewkesbury, Stroud and Quedgeley & Kingsway. The company employs 45 staff across the county and has a sales division, CGT Sales Ltd.

Angharad is a previous winner of the Rising Star Award at Negotiator Awards 2018 and was shortlisted in the top 100 most Inspirational Women in the West Awards 2019.
