Kier chosen to build new art college scheme

Kier has been selected to build a new student campus for the Royal College of Art at Battersea, London.

The £50 million construction project includes a four storey building with workshops, teaching and exhibition space next to an eight storey research building, it is reported in Construction Enquirer.

Work is due to begin this summer. The architects are Herzog & de Meuron.

Kier has been involved in some of Gloucestershire's most prestigious construction projects. They include the recently completed redevelopment of the former magistrates' court building in Gloucester to provide a new social care hub at the Barbican, the new £7.5million Gloucester bus station and the Brewery development in Cheltenham.

Following the recent collapse of Carillion up to 200 civil engineering staff are to switch to Kier to provide joint venture smart motorway projects and two high speed rail contracts.
