Keys to success for King's Walk Shopping Centre retailer

The boss of one the UK's best-known businesses is expected to personally join in the 25th anniversary celebrations for a retailer at King's Walk Shopping Centre in Gloucester.

Wayne Clarke (pictured) has worked for Timpson, the nationwide shoe repair, key cutting, watch repair and dry cleaning service, for a quarter of a century.

To mark the occasion, Wayne, who has been at King's Walk for the last two years, is expecting to get an invitation to a special anniversary lunch at the home of Timpson chairman John Timpson, something that has become the company tradition for long serving employees.

The family-owned business, which has 1,325 stores, prides itself on the total authority and generous perks it gives its 3,400 colleagues.

John Timpson calls his unique business style "upside down management."

King's Walks Shopping Centre manager Peter White said Wayne was a popular figure at the centre and the celebrations were well deserved.

"Timpson is a fantastic family run firm and it is great that they are recognising Wayne's hard work in this way," he said. "Wayne brings in many repeat customers because people know and like him.

"Timpson are an important tenant at King's Walk and have so many loyal customers in Gloucester."

Wayne said: "Timpson are a brilliant family to work for and if they can help you they will.

"They give you your birthdays off, they provide holiday homes you can use free of charge and if you have any financial problems they have a Timpson fund to help you.

"I have some great customers here at King's Walk Shopping Centre and they come back time and time again. I love the job and there is never a dull moment. The staff here at King's Walk are all very friendly and great to work with."
