Key date just around the corner for controversial energy plan
21st October 2016

A project to build a £10million gas plant in fields in Gloucestershire is only days away from an important and potentially defining landmark.
Next Tuesday, members of Tewkesbury Borough Council's planning committee will meet to discuss plans for Ecotricity's proposed Fiddington Green Gas Mill (pictured) just outside the town.
The scheme, which has been approved by officers, has faced strong opposition amid allegations that it will harm the landscape, affect air quality and cause problems for the local transport network.
In a statement on its website, Ecotricity said: "Fiddington will be the first Green Gas Mill in our home county of Gloucestershire.
"The 7 hectare site by the M5 near Fiddington could provide enough green gas to power over 6,000 typical UK homes, and save approximately 4,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year.
"It's an extremely exciting project - and it's great to have it so near our HQ in Stroud.
"We are at the beginning of a revolution in gas, not from fracking but from farms; there's a whole new industry waiting to be created here, meaning more jobs and plenty of economic benefits."
