John Lewis to recruit 10,000 new staff

The John Lewis Partnership is set to take on 10,000 new staff across the business.

This partnership said the new jobs are part of its commitment to 'delivering exceptional service, no matter when, where, or how our customers prefer to shop with us'.

Vacancies are in both Waitrose and John Lewis stores, as well as the distribution network.

The partnership is set to recruit more than 2,800 seasonal roles across its 329 Waitrose shops, including Cheltenham, Cirencester and Stroud. Roles will include supermarket assistants, night shift and customer delivery drivers.

There are temporary roles in sales and merchandising positions across the 34 John Lewis stores, including Cheltenham.

The partnership is also recruiting 2,700 seasonal roles in its supply chain, including warehouse operatives and drivers to serve customers on the Waitrose and John Lewis websites, as well as John Lewis click and collect orders.

In addition to the seasonal temporary jobs, a further 1,700 positions will be available across both Waitrose and John Lewis in a variety of roles over the coming months.

Lisa Cherry, executive director, people, at the John Lewis Partnership, said: "We're hugely proud of the way our two brands have become part of the excitement that surrounds Christmas and this is a great opportunity to be at the heart of that at such a special time. Our customers are at the forefront of everything we do; we want to deliver a great festive season for them with inspirational products and the very best customer service courtesy of our brilliant partners."

Candidates can register their interest in the seasonal shop roles online, with jobs going live throughout September and October.
