Housebuilder creates over 750 jobs with new site in Coleford

Barratt Homes will begin releasing homes at Forest Grove, Coleford tomorrow (Saturday 16th January) - for sale by appointment only.

With each home creating an average of 4.3 jobs and a total of 180 houses to be built, it is estimated the housebuilder is responsible for generating some 774 jobs in the community - giving a welcome boost to the local economy this January.

With over 700,000 people out of work across the UK due to the pandemic, many companies are scaling back their workforce and delaying or even cancelling new projects. And while the housebuilding market isn't immune, Barratt Homes generated hundreds of jobs in Gloucestershire last year, including direct jobs on site, work for sub-contractors and creating supply chains with local companies.

Richard Lawson, sales director at Barratt Homes said: "We are very excited to be moving into the sales phase at Forest Grove, with three and four-bedroom houses available from 16th January.

"We have homes suitable for everyone from first time buyers to local families, including a small number of sought-after bungalows ideal for retirees. The site also boasts a community park with a playground and 5.5 acres of green space to support local wildlife.

"We take our responsibilities to the local community very seriously and Forest Grove is situated close to local shops and great schools. With the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty right on your doorstep we believe this to be a very special place to call home.

"We are now taking bookings for face-to-face appointments with our sales advisers, in accordance with Public Health England's current Covid-19 regulations. Virtual appointments are also available for those who might prefer a viewing from the comfort of their sofa."
