Home Secretary meets police on the front line

The Home Secretary Amber Rudd met officers and police chiefs during a visit to Stroud police station.

She learned about day-to-day police duties and just how far the thin blue is being stretched.

The Home Secretary was welcomed by Gloucestershire Chief Constable Rod Hansen and Police and Crime Commissioner Martin Surl.

The Government has pledged to help officers who may suffer from mental health issues because of the pressures of the job.
