Police dog handler turned landscaper wins two national awards

Landscape gardening company Goldenstones is basking in the glow of two national awards.

The firm based in Nailsworth went up against some of the best landscapers from across the UK and won Best Patio Transformation 30-60m2 and Best Use of Natural Stone at the Bradstone Assured Awards.

It impressed judges with the use of different elements to create a design with defined spaces for different uses and by transforming an unused space into something that could be enjoyed all year round.

Peter Montgomery, national sales manager for Bradstone, said: "Goldenstones are truly worthy winners of their two Bradstone Assured awards. Their ability to provide an outstanding standard of garden landscaping was unrivalled in this category."

Chris Blackwell, owner of Goldenstones, said: "We are absolutely delighted to have been recognised for the quality of our work and our creative landscape designs, especially in such highly competitive categories.

"We have some exciting projects to deliver during the summer months that will really showcase our landscaping abilities to their full potential and, hopefully, earn us a place in next year's awards too."

Chris learned his love of the outdoors grew up on a farm in Nailsworth and set up the business 20 years ago while working as a dog handler for Gloucestershire Constabulary. Working for the police meant he saw the distress rogue traders can cause to people.

He became the first landscape gardener in Gloucestershire to be audited and approved by Trading Standards and is a member of the Association of Professional Landscapers and Horticultural Trade Association.
