Police appeal after female officer is headbutted

Police are appealing for witnesses after an incident at the Royal British Legion Club in Hardwicke which saw a female officer headbutted.

Officers were called to the Legion Club in Green Lane shortly after 11pm on Friday after complaints of a disturbance.

The female officer was headbutted, while a male officer was punched. Both officers remained on duty.

A police spokesman said: "We take assaults on our officers very seriously.

"The officers are recovering. They and we are grateful for the public messages of support and enquiries about their welfare."

One man was arrested and enquiries are ongoing but police would like to hear from anyone who has information about the incident.
