Gloucestershire Motor Show rolls into all-round summer show this weekend

Petrol heads, classic car lovers, foodies, families, fans of falconry, fashionistas and good old English summer fairs will all be catered for this week - benefiting one of the county's best-loved charities.

After eight years the momentum gathered by the Gloucestershire Motor Show sees the event blossom into what is being billed as the Pied Piper Summer Show .

Supported and made possible by generous county businesses, including a supporting role from Punchline-Gloucester.com, the event at the stunning Highnam Court near Gloucester opens its gates to all tomorrow and Sunday (June 9 and 10).

All the elements of the much-loved motor show, with 200 classic cars arriving over both days, and county dealerships such as Blade Group, Warners Motor Group, Baylis Group and Cotswold BMW will have their latest vehicles on display.

There will be plenty for the children to do, as well with a packed-out family entertainment programme including new football tricks sessions and BMX skills shows, plus go karting, Punch and Judy, falconry and a bouncy castle.

Chorley's Auctioneers will be in action on Saturday and Sunday hosting Antiques Roadshow-style sessions for people to bring along items to be valued.

There will also be a shopping quarter, plus fashion shows displaying the latest glamorous looks from stores such as Bodega in Cheltenham.

A host of bands will be performing on the main stage throughout the weekend, headlined on Sunday by the tribute band Abba Arrival, playing all the hits from the Eurovision winners.

The summer show is organised by the charity the Pied Piper Appeal, to raise money for its work helping sick and disabled children in Gloucestershire.

Pied Piper  Appeal chairman, Nick Broady, said: "We are now in our ninth year and the event just goes from strength to strength.

"This year, the Gloucestershire Motor Show has been re-branded to the new-look Summer Show. We have kept all our brilliant classic car and dealership displays, but there will also be lots more activities for all the family too.

"We are delighted with the amazing support from our sponsors and local businesses, as without them we would not be able to put this event on. In particular, we would like to thank Malvern Tyres, Renishaw, Hazlewoods, Harrison Clark Rickerbys, Jelf, Santander and Barclays.

"Also, a big thank you to our fantastic volunteers who give their time up to make the summer show happen - it wouldn't be possible without them."
