Gloucestershire's first Vietnamese restaurant already satisfying diners

The first Vietnamese restaurant to open in Gloucestershire is already receiving rave reviews.

Viet Yummy in Westgate Street, Gloucester, is a family-run business which opened its doors for the first time on Monday. Punchline editor Mark Owen dropped in to chat to co-owner Lee Phem about the new venture.

Lee said they had invested around £60,000-£70,000 in the restaurant. He said they offered traditional Vietnamese food and had eight tables for four upstairs and eight downstairs.

One of their specialities is Pho Noodle Soup which is made of fresh rice noodles in a carefully prepared, flavorsome, and healthy broth. The broth carries the pleasant richness of beef bones being simmered for 24 hours with a secret combination of spices. Served with bean-sprout, lemon, chili, and fresh herbs.

Another speciality is Vietnamese iced coffee which follows a traditional Vietnamese coffee recipe.

Viet Yummy employs a number of chefs and waiters and it already has several hundred followers on Facebook.

One satisfied customer posted yesterday: "We came last night. Got to say food was superb and your staff are excellent. We will be calling in again very soon. Well done. Keep up the good work "

Another said: "We really enjoyed our meal and everyone was so friendly. Will definitely be back again."
