Gloucestershire firms recognised in regional small business awards

A company from Gloucestershire was crowned as among the 'best in the West' at the FSB 'Celebrating Small Business Awards 2018' held in Taunton this week.

The South West finals of the national FSB contest took place at Somerset County Cricket Ground on Tuesday and were designed to find the best small businesses from Gloucestershire right down to Penzance.

Among the 12 prize winners were SmartSurvey Ltd, of Tewkesbury, who were chosen as the South West digital business of the year.

The Tewkesbury online survey firm were also awarded Highly Commended as family business of the year.

Victoria Schlesinger, from SmartSurvey, said they were delighted to win the prize and be awarded the title of 'best digital small business in the South West'.

"We are all thrilled to win," she said. "The competition was very strong so we are overwhelmed to have won the award."

All of the local winners will now be reassessed against winners from 11 other UK FSB regions and could then be shortlisted to go through to the UK national FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards 2018 final in London in May.

Roger Tarrant, who is the FSB Regional Chairman for the South West, said the event highlighted the sheer diversity and strength of the local SME sector.

"It was a truly fantastic event where we saw so many great entries which showed again the range and quality of the small businesses here in the South West."
