Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service needs you!

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS) is looking to recruit full time firefighters to join one of the country's highest performing services.

Following a recruitment freeze, GFRS welcomed new firefighters into the team for the first time in eight years during the autumn of 2016.

GFRS wants to make sure it better reflects the communities it serves, by recruiting a diverse group of individuals, with the right strengths, values and behaviours that will continue to make a difference to the people of Gloucestershire.

During the last intake of firefighters the service addressed a number of imbalances in the current workforce. These included the rising age of staff and a lack of underrepresented groups from our communities, especially women.

In recent weeks staff have been out around the county, speaking with people from all backgrounds about the opportunities to join the fire service. Now that recruitment has officially opened, the opportunity is available for all to apply.

To be considered for a role within GFRS, all applicants must live within 15 kilometres of the Gloucestershire border, be at least 18 years old at the start of training and hold a full driving licence.

Stewart Edgar, chief fire officer, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward thinking, dynamic and innovative team who are committed to protecting the Gloucestershire communities.

"We're looking for people to help make this service the best it can be. By joining Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service you can be part of an organisation that is committed to our values, to diversity and integrity and most importantly to keeping our communities safe.
