Greggs on a vegan roll with tasty profits

Fast-food bakery and high street favourite Greggs has seen profits rise by 58 per cent in its first six months of the year.

Its success, we are told, in no small part by sales of its hit vegan sausage roll, which helped the firms sales rise by 14.7 per cent to £546 million, with like-for-like sales up 10.5 per cent.

Greggs, which now trades from an estimated 2,000 outlets UK-wide, also reported underlying pre-tax profits of £40.6 million in the six months to June 29 - up from £25.7 million on the same period last year.
