A Cirencester-based firm of architects has been nominated for a prestigious industry award.
Yiangou Architects have been named on the shortlist for a Georgian Group Award for their Avalon wellbeing centre built at Broughton Hall in Yorkshire.
The Georgian Group Awards recognise buildings that either follow Georgian tradition, show thoughtful restoration or use contemporary architecture to enhance their setting.
The latter was the case at Avalon (pictured) with the centre being housed in one of Yorkshire's finest estates next to a Grade I-Listed mansion and set in historic parkland.
The client, whose family have lived at Broughton Hall for 900 years had set high standards for a contextual design. The project has previously been shortlisted for a RIBA award.
The development includes a dance studio, glamorous foyer and sinuous staircase that leads to a glass box yoga studio that has views across the parkland.
Ross Sharpe, Project Director, said: "The interior finishes are both sumptuous and inventive as we worked with the great stage designer Patrick Kinmonth.
"It is a building that reveals itself slowly and discreetly as you walk through it and fulfils the brief to 'raise the spirits' of those who enjoy the fabulous new facilities in such an historic setting.
"Everyone involved with the project is over-the-moon that it has been shortlisted."
Based in Cirencester, Yiangou Architects employ 30 staff and has been operating for almost 40 years.
During that time they have built a national reputation for new-build country houses for private clients as well as working with The National Trust, Duchy of Cornwall and University of Oxford.
