Get ready to celebrate! Elmbridge Court roundabout is nearly finished
8th September 2017
The Elmbridge Court roundabout scheme is almost complete, Gloucestershire County Council has announced.
For the next week crews will be working through the night resurfacing the Gloucester roundabout and drivers are asked to allow extra time for their journeys due to a variety of different lane closures.
Crews have already started resurfacing the roundabout following the year-long improvement scheme. Last week crews laid a new surface on the A40 Golden Valley westbound.
As of tonight (Friday, September 8) work is continuing on to the Golden Valley eastbound and also moving on to the section of the roundabout between Cheltenham & Gloucester, and Elmbridge in both directions. People will still be able access the 10 pin bowling alley off the A417.
So the resurfacing can be carried out safely, a full overnight closure will start on tonight between 10pm and 5am tomorrow morning.
Council spokeswoman Charlotte Merryfield said: "Crews are moving ahead at a great speed and continuing to resurface the roundabout throughout the night next week."
All closures will be between 10pm and 5am and are as follows:
Monday, September 11: A417 between C&G and Elmbridge and Cheltenham Road West (Longlevens) will be closed.
Tuesday, September 12: Cheltenham Road West (Longlevens) will be closed.
Wednesday, September 13: Cheltenham Road East (Churchdown) and A40 Northern Bypass will be closed in both directions.
Thursday, September 14: A40 Golden Valley Route East and Westbound will be fully closed, as will the A40 Northern Bypass in both directions and the A417 Barnwood Link North and Southbound. Cheltenham Road East and West through the Elmbridge Roundabout will be open but on Thursday will be reduced to a single-way lane managed by signals.
Friday, September 15: Cheltenham Road East (Churchdown) and A40 Northern Bypass North and Southbound will be closed.
All other routes will be open but the outer ring of the roundabout will be closed. A signposted diversion will in place, which uses a combination of the Tewkesbury Road, Estcourt Road, Barnwood Road, Corinium Avenue, A417, M5, A40 and Cheltenham Road.
