Twenty-five jobs could be created after a German-themed gourmet restaurant was given permission to open on Cheltenham High Street.
Planners at Cheltenham Borough Council have granted the go-ahead to transform the former YMCA shop at 65 High Street into the new eatery.
For a town known for its fine-dining establishments this will be a restaurant which aims to change the way some might think of a much-maligned favourite of the late-night 'gourmet'.
GDK - which stands for German Doner Kebab - started out in Germany 30 years ago and has built a reputation for offering healthy, quality doner kebabs from lean cuts of meat and vegetarian and halal options.
"Our tried and tested methods are totally different from the way other operators make their kebabs.
"The result is a nutritionally sound gourmet food experience that contains virtually no preservatives or additives and can be consumed day or night," said the firm's website.
Many of GDK's dishes contain less than 400 calories.
The planning application to Cheltenham Borough Council was made by Leeds based agent RR Planning which asked to be able to open seven days a week from 10am to 1am.
It estimated it could create up to 25 jobs.
Its plans included a banquette seating area, booths, kitchen and service counter.
GDK also has branches in Swansea, Birmingham and London.
