Four held after supermarket raid

Police have arrested four people in connection with a burglary at a supermarket in Churchdown.

Shortly before 3am on Monday offenders are believed to have entered the Tesco superstore on Cheltenham Road East before stealing a quantity of cigarettes from inside.

The offenders left in an Audi RS6 which was located by officers in Cheltenham and the four occupants were arrested shortly after.

Those arrested were four men aged 35, 39, 41 and 42, who are all from Cheltenham.

Officers and a helicopter from the National Police Air Service (NPAS) were involved in the arrests. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident 40 of 4 June.
