Forget Brexit and remember the bravery of our D-Day heroes

Today is the 74th anniversary of one of the most incredible events in history - D-Day.

Some 156,000 Allied troops began pouring onto the coast of northern France in the biggest ever seaborne invasion.

So much could have gone wrong (and in some cases did) as those brave troops gained a foothold for freedom against Hitler's tyranny.

And many of those soldiers sadly paid the ultimate price and would never return home.

As time takes its toll on the dwindling number of veterans who still remember their fallen comrades we salute those who landed on the beaches.

We may be obsessed with Brexit but we should never forget the valiant troops who helped bring freedom and democracy back to Europe.
