Forest Green reports losses, but things looking up for 2018
15th February 2018
Forest Green Rovers has reported a loss of more than £2.1 million for the year ending April 2017. But with promotion to the football league, things are looking brighter for the current year.
Since promotion, attendance at The New Lawn has been up significantly.
As of the end of January, 43,769 fans had attended matches at The New Lawn, an average of 2,735 per game. Last season in the same period just 27,479 fans made the trip to Nailsworth, an average attendance of 1,717.
A spokesman for the club said: "This gives us a 59 per cent increase in attendance so far, which we are delighted about. That will then have a knock-on effect on sales in the club shop and food and drink on a match day.
"Forest Green Rovers made good progress last year, both on and off the pitch. There was a significant reduction in operating losses and of course, our historic promotion to the Football League.
"With significant increases in attendance and all other forms of commercial revenue in our first season in the EFL, we are on course for an operating profit in our next set of accounts - as anticipated."
The club made losses of nearly £2.5 million in 2016, taking the total loss in two years to £4.6 million.
