Flood alerts issued along the River Wye

The Environment Agency has today issued flood alerts for parts of Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.

The River Wye at Lydbrook in the Forest of Dean and areas around the Wye from Hereford to Ross-on-Wye have been highlighted.

The alerts say flooding is possible so be prepared. River levels are expected to peak this afternoon.

The Environment Agency suggests the following action after a flood alert has been issued:

•Prepare a bag that includes medicines and insurance documents

•Check latest flood warnings

More serious flood warnings for Herefordshire and Gloucestershire have now been downgraded to flood alerts.
