First traders revealed for Cotswolds Designer Outlet

The first traders have been revealed for Cotswolds Designer Outlet- and three of them already have shops in Gloucester Quays.

The retail centre is being built off M5 J9 near Tewkesbury and when complete will have up to 90 shops.

It had been expected to open in Spring 2025 but it's website said it is now due to welcome in shoppers from Summer 2025.

Wagamama, Five Guys and Under Armour have all revealed they are taking units at the outlet site and sports brand Puma is thought to be joining them.

The shopping hub in Ashchurch is finally taking shape after years of planning by Cheltenham-based firm Robert Hitchens.

Architects Roberts Limbrick and construction company Bouygues UK are overseeing the project which is being built in two phases by up to 300 workers.

The outlet centre itself is predicted to create up to 500 retail jobs for the area. When complete it will cover 186,000 sq ft with 2,200 car parking spaces, electric charger points and a picnic area with child's adventure play equipment.

Multi-Realm will manage the centre which is expected to have discounts of 30-70%, footfall of 3.6million per annum and an annual sales turnover of £88.6million.

In July it was announced 75% of retail space at the site had been secured by brands but bosses have kept tight-lipped about which shops will actually open.

British restaurant chain Wagamama Limited has now been revealed as one of the first retailers taking space. It has applied to Tewkesbury Borough Council for a premises licence for unit 68-69 at the shopping hub in Platinum Drive.

It wants to sell alcohol from 10am to midnight Monday to Sunday and be open and serve up drinks until 12.30am.

The company, which already has a restaurant in Gloucester, Quays, has also advertised for a front of house manager for the new branch. The full-time role will pay £13 per hour.

The job advert on its website said: "Exciting news. Wagamama is coming to Cotswolds Designer Outlet in early summer 2025.

"We're excited to connect with local talent and discuss opportunities to join our management team as we prepare for an incredible new restaurant opening.

"More roles will be posted soon."

American fast food chain Five Guys, which also has an existing location in Gloucester Quays, is also coming to the outlet centre.

It has posted a job advert on its website seeking an assistant store manager with a salary of £33,040, plus bonuses, to work at a new burger restaurant.

Multi-Realm is yet to announce any retailers officially. But the outlet website has advertised two jobs for American sportswear company Under Armour.

It wants an "enthusiastic" store manager and assistant store manager to join its "high-energy, supportive and performance-driven team dedicated to empowering athletes around the world".

German clothing company Puma has advertised a job in Tewkesbury for a retail store manager with 2-4 years of experience. It also has an existing shop in Gloucester Quays.

Bosses said Cotswold Designer Outlet will offer a mix of "flagship and statement stores across premium, aspirational, lifestyle and mass market brands".

There will also be a "generous provision" of food and beverage outlets, storage options for click and collect and online fulfilment.

The shopping centre is being developed by Robert Hitchins Ltd as the final piece of its long-term vision for a 300-acre site in Ashchurch.

Dobbies garden centre and a BP filling station with an M&S Simply Food, EV car chargers and an adjacent Starbucks, have already opened.

A short distance from the outlet 850 homes are being built by Persimmon Homes and Charles Church in two neighbouring estates called Fiddington Fields and Mulberry Place with recreational areas, a school and sports facilities.

A further 460 homes will also be constructed by Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes with work starting this year.
