Farm park set to unveil visitor centre extension

Adam Henson's Cotswold Farm Park is about to welcome its first visitors to its brand new visitor centre.

The park near Guiting Power opens its gates to visitors for the new season tomorrow (Saturday) and is looking forward to showing off the new extension, which is three times the size of the former visitor centre.

Built on the site of the farm's old livestock barn, The Ox Shed, the new centre has been sympathetically designed, taking the original use of the site as inspiration. It brings the farm park's facilities up to date with beautiful aesthetics, eco-friendly features and visitor comfort at the forefront of the process.

The Cotswold Farm Park was founded in 1971 by the late Joe Henson and is now run by his son Adam, who is known to millions of viewers as a presenter on BBC1's Countryfile programme.

The Ox Shed, which will be open to the public from 9am - 5pm every day, has a restaurant that now seats up to 130 people, and the new commercial kitchen means that the park can extend the range of what's on offer. Baby change facilities have been incorporated into all of the new WC areas.

A spokesperson for the farm park said: "We've had a fantastic team on site during the renovation, who have worked so hard to make The Ox Shed happen.

"It's a brilliant space which we really hope visitors will enjoy for years to come. The outlook from the terrace towards Stow-on-the-Wold and beyond is breathtaking and we can't think of a nicer view to soak up whilst enjoying a coffee and a slice of cake."

Local craftspeople and businesses have been used throughout the project.

The new facilities provide 380 square metres of retail space and various ranges of local products have been sourced.

Amid all the excitement of the new visitor centre opening, visitors will have the chance to watch lambing from tomorrow daily from 10.30am - 5pm until Sunday, April 28. Visitors can access the lambing shed, where there are 660 ewes due to give birth over the 10-week period.

There are daily talks from the team and farm safari rides, as well as the chance to bottle feed lambs and goat kids, hold chicks and rabbits and children can let off steam in the indoor and outdoor play areas.

The Ox Shed will be open daily from 9am and is free to enter.
