Fancy running your own pub? Historic inn is up for sale

A 300-year-old county pub steeped in rural tradition has been put on the market.

The King's Head at France Lynch nestles in the Stroud Valleys and is up for sale with Colliers International.

The pub was saved from the threat of closure by its current owners Pat and Mike Duff when they bought it in 1997.

Now offers are being invited in the region of £380,000 for the pub, which offers potential owners a lifestyle business in a highly desirable location according to Colliers International Hotels Director Peter Brunt.

"Our clients Pat and Mike Duff saved the pub from possible closure and conversion to a residential home some 20 years ago, but are now looking to retire and allow new owners to make the most of this fantastic lifestyle business," he said.

"The King's Head offers a characterful and cosy open plan space with a pair of fireplaces, a handsome two-level two-bedroom apartment and wonderful gardens and views.

"The steep valleys between Stroud and Cirencester are peppered with charming villages and France Lynch - believed to have been named after the Huguenot weavers who settled there in the 17th century - is one of the best."

The King's Head dates from 1713 and there is believed to have been an ale house on the site before that. It is near the A419 London Road and is close to a number of popular tourist attractions including the Slad and Golden Valleys.
