Ecclesiastical appoints new non-executive director

Gloucester-based Ecclesiastical Insurance Group has appointed Andrew McIntyre as a non-executive director. He will chair the Audit Committee of Ecclesiastical Insurance Office plc and Ecclesiastical Insurance Group plc.

Mr McIntyre retired from a 32-year career at accountancy firm EY (formerly Ernst & Young) in October 2016. His final role was senior partner of EY's UK financial services audit practice.

He acted for many of the firm's major clients and served as a member of the firm's UK board, and as a trustee board member of its pension funds. He had previously led the firm's UK and global asset management industry group.

Following his graduation from Cambridge, Mr McIntyre originally trained as an accountant at Dixon Wilson & Co and joined EY in 1984 after a short spell as a controller at Guinness Overseas Ltd.

He is a non-executive director of C. Hoare & Co, where he chairs the audit and risk committee. He also chairs the audit committee of Cavamont Holdings Limited and is a trustee of the Centre for Economic Policy Research.

Commenting on the appointment, Ecclesiastical's chief executive Mark Hews said: "I am delighted that Andrew has agreed to join us. Ecclesiastical is served by a strong team working together for the greater good of society, and I know Andrew will bring valuable insight and experience to the board as we continue to grow and transform our business."

Mr McIntyre said: "Ecclesiastical has a long and proud history of providing outstanding service to its customers. I am delighted to be joining such a fine organisation."
