Drivers warned to expect delays during new roadworks

Motorists have today been advised about upcoming road closures in a Gloucestershire town.

Gloucestershire County Council has announced that work will be taking place along the A429 in Moreton-in-Marsh.

The work will include the mini roundabouts located at the junctions between the High Street and Oxford Street and the High Street, East Street and Bourton Road.

There will also be new road markings at various locations within the town.

In order to minimise disruption, work on the road will be take place during two overnight road closures, between 7pm tomorrow and 7.30am on Thursday.

Diversions will be in place and commuters and residents are recommended to allow extra time for their journeys.

Work will be combined with a new pedestrian island on the A44 London Road, which will be installed during the day from tomorrow for three weeks using temporary traffic lights.

Resurfacing work will also be taking place from tomorrow until Friday at Moreton railway bridge, with daytime closures between 9.30am and 3.30pm on both days.

Scott Tompkins, lead commissioner for highways, said: "We would like to thank people for their patience whilst this work takes place.

"Diversions will be clearly advertised and we would recommend residents and commuters allow extra time for their journeys."
