County Council are “fostering” this year’s Pride

A campaign to increase the number of LGBT foster carers in Gloucestershire is set to receive a fresh boost at this weekend's Gay Pride festival.

Gloucestershire Pride will be taking place in Gloucester Park this Saturday from noon until 5pm.

During the event, Gloucestershire County Council will be providing information on how to become involved, information on types of fostering, allowances and the assessment process shall also be available.

Cabinet member for children and young people Cllr Richard Boyles said: "Fostering is a richly rewarding opportunity and the council is committed to attracting foster carers from a variety of backgrounds and communities.

"I hope everyone has a wonderful time at Gloucestershire Pride, and would encourage anyone who has ever had any interest in fostering to stop by our stand."

There is no upper age limit to foster and people can be married, single, co-habiting, in a heterosexual or same sex relationship, a homeowner or renting a property.

Applicants will need to be over 21 and have a spare room (or spare rooms for siblings) in their home.

For further information about fostering with the county council call 01242 532654 or visit www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/fostering.
