The leader of Cheltenham Borough Council is to step down after more than a decade in the job.

Steve Jordan

Councillor Steve Jordan has announced that after 30 years of dedicated service as a ward councillor and the last 12 years as leader, he will not be seeking re-election as a councillor in the May 2021 elections.

Councillor Steve Jordan will step down as leader of the council sometime before May 2021 and is discussing a timetable for that with his colleagues.

Speaking about his decision, Cllr Steve Jordan said: 'During my 30 years as a councillor I have thoroughly enjoyed making contributions both locally within my ward, All Saints, and as leader of the council.

"Pending the change in leadership, my focus will be supporting the delivery of our ambitious strategy to lead Cheltenham's economic and community recovery."
