A Cotswold pub dating back to the 13th century has been sold to a local man, who plans to bring it back to its former glory.
Ye Olde Inn in Westerleigh, on the edge of the Cotswolds hills, is a Grade II listed building, dating back to the 17th century with some parts dating back as far as the 13th century.
It sold off a guide price of £395,000 for the freehold interest.
The interior trading areas still retain most of the period features, including open fireplaces and exposed beams.
Due to its idyllic location, the pub is popular with visitors to the area and attracts plenty of passing trade.
Ye Olde Inn was purchased by a local, first time buyer in the sector, Jason Toogood, who is based in Pucklechurch and owns a haulage firm. Jason is retaining the existing manger to continue running the pub and has plans to carry out improvements and redecorate the inn.
Jason said: "I'm very excited to have purchased Ye Olde Inn, we have lots of plans to restore the building and return the pub back to its former glory."
Nicholas Calfe, director based in Christie & Co's Bristol office, who handled the sale, said: "We are pleased this historic pub has been sold to a local buyer, who knew all about its history and is looking to preserve the building and ensure its future as a vibrant village community pub.
"There is high demand for freehold pubs in the area, particularly those with a strong following and reputation, such as Ye Olde Inn, and with the support of the local community, we are sure that the pub will continue to thrive."
