Clothing and lifestyle brand closes city centre store

One of the Gloucester's newest clothing and lifestyle retailers is closing its store on Westgate Street just months after it opened.

The rugby sportswear and clothing brand Raging Bull, owned by former Gloucester prop Phil Vickery (pictured right), launched the flagship store in late August 2017 but the building has now been sold by the landlord to a new company who plan to convert it to a food business.

Prior to that, the premises were owned by up-market menswear brand Hayden Taylor, which also stocked Vickery's clothing label.

Closing down posters have appeared in the windows advertising 50 percent off on all items to its customers. Sadly, as a result of the closure, several both full-time and part-time employees will have to seek employment elsewhere.

Shannon Mercer, managing director of Raging Bull commented: "The Westgate store was our first stand-alone premium store and it has been a brilliant learning experience which has given us the confidence to look for a more permanent site. We are in active discussions with other sites in Gloucester and hope to find an alternative location as quickly as possible."

Raging Bull will officially move out at the end of February. Debenhams in Gloucester, House of Fraser Cheltenham and Worcester will be the closest stockists until the new store opens.

The closure comes just a week after major high street chain Dorothy Perkins and Burton menswear closed its city branch on Eastgate Street.

Punchline is sad to see the closure of a well-known clothing brand in Gloucester but hope to see Raging Bull spring up elsewhere in the city in the near future.
