City's "haven of individuality" nominated for Pub of the Year

A Gloucester micro-pub which says it welcomes sheep but not Facebook has been put forward for a major award.
The city's MP Richard Graham has nominated The Turk's Head Inn in Southgate Street for Parliamentary Pub of the Year.
The pub's quirky individual approach prompted the city MP to drop in on his way home and decide the Turk's Head should be his candidate for the award.
"Landlords Peter and Chris have created a new pub in a medieval building with masses of different ales and ciders and a stairway to Heaven," said Mr Graham.
"They welcome dogs and sheep but not Facebook, 'Twatter' or Morris dancing. It's a little world where customers talk, play chess or the piano while drinking - and a haven of individuality in an increasingly bland world.
"That's why I've put the Turks Head forward for Parliamentary Pub of the Year - and everyone who cares about pubs should go."
The Turk's Head Inn, Gloucester's first micro-pub, has been open for five months. Every MP has been asked to nominate a pub from their local area, who will then go on to compete in the national competition.
