Cheltenham tattoo artist to provide medical tattoos

A ground-breaking Cheltenham tattoo artist is set to work with patients at a hospital in Birmingham.

Tanya Buxton is a medical tattoo specialist and owns Paradise Tattoo Studios in Cheltenham.

She will be working with HCA Healthcare UK at its new private hospital, The Harborne Hospital, Birmingham.

Tanya said: "I'm excited to join the team at HCA and to be able to offer another piece in the puzzle of a person's breast cancer treatment.

"The cancer treatment affects their self-esteem and wellbeing. The tattoos signify almost a new beginning. It's closing the door on that part of their journey.

"I really love being a part of it. I'm really proud to represent what tattooing can do and also to pioneer this new treatment."

Tanya already works with breast cancer patients for the NHS at Kingston Hospital in London. She was the first tattoo artist to be enlisted by the NHS to provide areola tattoos for patients.

She is also a registered provider with Bupa, Vitality and Nuffield Healthcare or her medical tattoo services.

Tanya launched her Areola Tattoo Training Programme earlier this year to help improve the standards of training available for this specialised area of tattooing. Students and medical professionals have travelled from all over the world to learn from her.
