MP looks forward to holding government and Reform to account

Cheltenham MP, Max Wilkinson, has been promoted to Lib Dem leader Ed Davey's senior team.
The MP is now home affairs spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats and said he will be standing up for freedom of speech for all.

Writing on LinkedIn, Max Wilkinson said: "I've had a fascinating and challenging year as culture, media and sport spokesperson. I threw myself into defending the IP rights of creatives, the Football Governance Bill (including explaining our free-to-air football policy while doing keepy-uppy on College Green), holding the BBC to account, speaking up for the free press in the face of threats from Reform and generally having a go at everything I could. I'll be sad to move on.
"But the home affairs brief is full of gritty topics at the heart of the challenges facing our nation and I am up for the fight.
"I look forward to holding the government, and others, to account by standing up for the liberal values of tolerance, decency, compassion, freedom of speech (not just for the hard right) and the rule of law. This is the frontline of the battle for the future of liberal democracy and it's a role I will take very seriously."
He concluded: "Thank you to everyone who I've worked with in the DCMS brief over the past 12 months. It's been fun and I've learned a lot too."
