Young people with complex disabilities and learning difficulties will have greater independence thanks to a Gloucestershire company's generous donation.
Cheltenham equipment supplier Astor Bannerman donated 675 slings, worth £67,000, to National Star.
National Star physiotherapy manager Verity Fisher said: "Seventy per cent of National Star's learners and residents use wheelchairs and many need hoisting for all transfers so slings are absolutely vital.
"In a year where there have been many additional costs linked to the ongoing pandemic such a generous donation of vital equipment is even more valuable."
National Star provides education and care for young people from across the UK with its main campus at Ullenwood and long-term care facilities in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Malvern and Hereford, as well as education centres in Wales and Hereford.
Astor Bannerman designs and manufacture specialist bathing and care equipment.
Marketing manager Jane Fraser-Hook said: "Astor Bannerman is delighted to make this sizeable sling donation to National Star and their network of therapists and care staff.
"In January, Astor Bannerman took over the OpeMed brand, one of the leading overhead track hoist companies, which gave us access to a surplus of slings.
We have an historic relationship with National Star, our neighbours, so couldn't think of a better place to donate them to, supporting their fantastic organisation and work."
