Cheltenham College looks for innovation to create room

Cheltenham College has lodged planning applications for an innovation centre and a nursery building.
According to the planning application lodged by Roberts Limbrick on behalf of the college, the Centre for Innovation and Excellence is earmarked for land created by demolishing administration and storage buildings.
It would provide a new home for the senior school's business and economics department together with a lecture theatre which could also be used by outside organisations.
The application said: "As a functioning school of around 1,100 pupils, we are short of large congregation spaces and the lecture theatre will provide a space where the whole year group can gather.
"Our pupils (and their parents) expect to receive exceptional teaching, and our professionals need to continue challenging themselves to develop, for which this space will be ideal."
The nursery building would replace the preparatory school headmaster's house.
