Construction work is finally set to begin on a project to bring 24 affordable homes to Cheltenham.

Homes England has approved £2.8million funding towards the development at 320 Swindon Road and Speller Metcalfe has been appointed as the contractor.
An application to demolition existing buildings on the site and build the homes was approved in December 2021 .
The site was cleared and earlier this year an application to amend the planes was approved.
Construction works is now scheduled to begin in Autumn 2025 on seven houses and 17 apartments and other infrastructure, landscaping, and parking. The properties will include, solar panels, green roofs and low carbon construction and be available through social rent and shared ownership
Cllr Alisha Lewis, cabinet member for major developments and housing delivery, said: "This is a great milestone and a wonderful opportunity to bring a former disused brownfield site back to life.

"We're delivering sustainable homes that are affordable not just to buy or rent but to live in day to day - saving people money and the planet."
"The £2.8m of funding that's been approved is a significant addition to our investment in housing in Cheltenham.
"This is one of many major projects for the borough that we're working on to provide much needed housing to people, whether they are on a waiting list or have been struggling to get on the ladder, everyone deserves a place they can call home."
Mark Eaton, divisional director at Speller Metcalfe, said: "We're proud to be partnering with Cheltenham Borough Council to deliver more sustainable, affordable homes for the town.
"As a contractor with strong regional roots, we know how important developments like this are in supporting local communities - creating high-quality housing while promoting greener, healthier neighbourhoods.
"We're delighted to bring our expertise to this project and look forward to getting underway later this year."
